Connie's Background:

(1990-2005) While working at St. Peter's Hospital, Hamilton, Ontario, Connie served all ages and tended to their foot health needs, including caring for sports injuries and provided orthotic manufacture and fittings. Connie focused study and practice on Wound Care and caring for the high-risk adult foot. Additionally, Connie served as Clinical Mentor for Michener Institute Chiropody Program and was also a McMaster University Preceptor for Family Practice Interns in Geriatric rotation.

( 1997-2000) Connie developed and served the grassroots Community Foot Care Program in Hamilton's Downtown Core to impact the needs of our city's most vulnerable people. The pilot program that provided essential foot care for marginalized persons was a success and became a fully-funded program by the province and still operates today.

(2007-2010) Connie worked for St. Peters again ( now Hamilton Health Sciences) and also resumed her role as Clinical Mentor for Michener Institute Chiropody Program.

(2010- 2020) Connie worked proactively in preventive care in Communities of Niagara Region and Hamilton aimed at rebuilding publicly funded Foot Care resources for persons living with Diabetes who resided in 14 locations throughout Hamilton/Niagara/Haldimand-Norfolk/Brant regions.

In 2021, longing for new adventures, Connie bought the foot clinic at St Joseph's Health Care - King Campus. Operating Garth Foot Care as a private practice, Connie hopes to improve access to skilled Medical Foot Care for residents in Hamilton and Stoney Creek and develop much-needed Home Visit Foot Care services in the Hamilton Region through an experienced team.

In her spare time, Connie enjoys classical painting and cooking for her family( though she hasn't mastered sourdough bread yet). They spend as much time as possible at their cottage, hiking, biking, kayaking, and gardening by Lake Huron. All of the Spitmans are Raptors and Ticat fans, but her favorite sports to watch with her husband are those that her three kids participate in.
